Thank you for this! I was just talking about this idea of "struggle = success" with a friend the other day. I think especially as artists we are taught that if we aren't being a martyr for our work, then we aren't putting in enough effort. I've been working on reworking my thinking and habits around this for years. You put it so well in this piece.
I'm so glad you enjoyed this and connected to it! The struggle = success equation is so relevant to so many (maybe all?) professions, but it's SO pronounced in creative careers/work. Sara Bareilles was on a few months ago and spoke pretty profoundly about this when it comes to mental health struggles — I think you'll really appreciate it on so many levels :)
