I love this! I especially love the reminder that everyone will have an opinion but that doesn’t make it “right.” Or that there’s ever going to be one golden answer to a problem, no matter how much we may search for one. All things I needed to hear right now!
Brenna!! Thank you! I'm so glad you loved it — and yeah, sometimes I feel like there must be a part of our brain that's evolved specifically to latch hard and fast onto the idea of One Golden Answer, because it almost feels like the instinctive response ("something doesn't work? welp, there is one specific thing that does and I'm gonna find it!!!"). At least for me. I'm so happy to hear I'm not alone. Also, YAY to being the first comment on this brand new Substack!
Love the metaphors and the ultimate lesson. And I think the advice to just slow down and notice what’s working and what isn’t is so simple and at the same time so so poignant. I know I have a tendency of wanting to rush through the discomfort and get to the other side already by either burning it all down or trying to fix fix fix and often, just letting go a little and taking a breath and step away from it can work wonders
Whooooo do I know that feeling of wanting to rush through it. The "fixing" tendency is so overpowering sometimes. Like some part of our brain fixates on making it "right" again and won't let go until we do. I'm so glad you loved this and that I'm not alone in this big long saga that wasn't really about the shoes at all, at the end of the day :)
Love all the lessons and tidbits from this journey! Oh so true and only the first hand experience and mindful awareness to it all could elicit these "lessons" shared/learned. Yes, best advice, slow our roll... more times than not I ask myself - "how do I feel about..." and "what is it that you/I really want..." These two questions, as you stated in this segment, allow me to focus in on what really matters for me; while also hearing/considering the input/suggestions/advice from others around me. I love that you landed with the old and the new in a way that "fits" for who you are and your journey ahead!! A great lesson and "share" for us all.
"Be proactive, not reactive." This is something I tell myself EVERY DAY multiple times a day. What a great reminder and a great lesson. Thank you for sharing!
Laughing/crying about your shoe journey — been there!! Thank you for the reminder to slooow down. And thanks, too, for sharing our wonderful podcast episode! Welcome to your new Substack home, it looks great!

Such important questions to ask!

It's the biggest, simplest game changer in the moment, I've found. A 3-second gut check of what's actually going on!!

The sadness of the Plan E shoes was what put me over the edge, really. There is no room for Sad Running on Race Day!
(and, thank you!!! Wow I'm so much happier here so far!)
