September Round-Up: A Megamix Of Links + Thinks
Group chat, good words, seasonal shifts, and contemplating the anthology of life
September is always a special month to me. Very predictably — but not exclusively — because it’s my birthday month.
This weekend was my birthday. I love being a Late September Libra. I love the anticipation it brings to the month as a whole, and I love that my birthday often falls right in line with the seasonal shift into Autumn.
Between September 2023 and September 2024, a huge dream of mine came to life: Year 37 was all about being the best support system I could as WANT YOUR SELF found its legs out in the world. Lots of travel, media, and generally doing whatever I could to make sure this moment, so many years in the making, was given its well-deserved time to shine. And thankfully, I had so much support along the way to help me weather that whirlwind.
So much of the year, for me, was about response. About meeting the moment. It was a very external year for this introvert — testing me in all the ways, presenting me with some of my greatest moments of pride and deepest moments of grief simultaneously, testing if I am who I say I am, asking me who I can be when I choose to live out loud. Like, *really* really.
After working toward the goal of BOOK for my entire 30s, and now having it REACHED and HERE, I wonder what this year will bring. And who I’ll be as I step into it.
Just off the top of my head and going with my first instinct…I sense this coming year will introduce me to a new layer of myself that I haven’t met yet. Parts of me that maybe I think I know but maybe haven’t had one of those intense bonding sessions yet that usually takes a relationship to the next level. I sense this year will be both an introduction and a homecoming. A totally new series in the anthology that is my life. We’ll see. I’ll report back.
All I know is I feel excited, joyful, and so grateful I get the chance to be here, as me, with you.
